Restore your tooth’s strength and shape!

Your damaged teeth need more than just a filling, and a dental crown is one of the ways to give a second chance to your teeth.

What is a dental crown?

It is also known as a tooth cap, which is a custom-made restoration that fits perfectly on the top of the damaged or weakened tooth. It helps to restore the shape, strength, and appearance, and additionally protect the structure as well. Dental crowns are highly recommended for those who are dealing with severe dental challenges like deep decay, fractures, worn-down teeth, or a weakened root canal.

But when it comes to the type of crown, it highly depends on the location of the tooth, current condition, bite pressure, overall oral health, and aesthetic requirements.

Type of dental crown at Vera Dental Care, Jaipur

Zirconia- made of a rough white ceramic material that is highly durable and usually recommended for front and back teeth.

All-porcelain- it is a metal-free cap which is an ideal choice for front teeth, as it matches the color of the teeth.

Porcelain fused to metal (PFM)- it is a combination of a tooth-coloured porcelain layer with a metal base. Over time, the metal near the gum started to wear down; that is why it is not recommended for teeth that are visible while smiling.

Metal crowns- these are made from gold, palladium, and metal alloys and offer maximum durability but lack a natural appearance. These are suggested for back molar teeth.

Why is a filling not enough?

The purpose is just to fill the missing portion of the tooth, but it does not provide the sufficient reinforcement that natural teeth require without losing structure. For damaged, cracked, or heavily restored teeth, a dental crown becomes crucial for coverage and protection. So, this is not just a crown for your teeth; it is a way to preserve the natural tooth as much as possible and provide the tooth with longevity.
